So Are you a Psychic?

That’s a question I was recently asked by someone who came in for a reading. I said yes and then they asked me if I just give advice that they can get from their friends. I said I won’t lie, sometimes it is just commonsense stuff people need to hear. With that they left.

When people come in for a reading, they often feel I need to tell them stuff I shouldn’t know. I can do that, but it gets old after a while and it is after a while. I used to enjoy the tricks and impressing people with telling them about their boyfriend without anything but a first name and age. But over time, I realized how little that actually helps people in life. And I do get a lot of people that are looking for real help. The games just are not going to help them. So I have changed my style to be one that helps people.

What does it mean to help people? It means you try to drive to the point more, and to help them see where they have real power to influence things and where they don’t. Sometimes, you have to tell them to let something go because they have played all their cards already. I also focus a lot of time on crystal work to help people as well. This is an area I really enjoy and spend a lot of time in. I have many clients that love crystal work once they get to see the benefits of it. It’s why I do it.

This week my trainer at the gym had me do a new work out. I’ve been trying to improve my strength and she felt this new workout would be the thing. I am frustrated that I have not achieved my goal and this new workout was beating up really bad. I was exhausted and covered in sweat and feeling like I couldn’t go on. But I remembered how far I had come and that I needed to go on because I was almost there, I was so close, just a little bit more and I’d reach my goal. When I was in grad school, I had some classmates that sat around with their arms folded, expecting the school to do all the work for them. March Stone of the Month: Marcasite

This month’s stone is marcasite, sometimes called white iron pyrite. In fact it looks like pyrite and is chemically the exact same as pyrite, but its crystalline structure is different. It has a cubic crystal structure, which pyrite does not. It is also far more brittle than pyrite, in fact exposure to air will in time causes it to decay. Some of you may have heard of marcasite jewelry, it is actually an incorrect name, because marcasite is too unstable to use in jewelry and it is actually pyrite that is used in marcasite jewelry.

Marcasite forms in rather low temperatures in shale or low grade coal and is actually found in many areas of the world. In fact I have a number of pieces from around the US and they all look different. I do believe that location plays a huge role in how marcasite ends up looking. Once you find a piece in your collection, the sulfur will start to release and it can cause a smell. The sulfuric acid will eat away at paper or cardboard and the stone will eventually end up being a pile of dust. This process generally happens over decades. So why would I recommend this stone, you are probably wondering. Because despite the drawbacks, marcasite has some great properties to it that can aid many people.

First and foremost, marcasite is a spiritual growth stone. It is far more gentle at this than moldavite, which makes it more attractive to many people who wish to grow but don’t want to have the crammed down their throat method used by moldavite. Marcasite helps to improve one’s psychic abilities and to help ground those abilities by improving the connection of the lower three chakras. From this it helps to balance the physical energies of the body with the emotional and spiritual quests one hopes to undertake. It does this in a very gentle way, I have yet to met anyone who felt a negative impact when marcasite does this. As a result, I consider it a great stone for those looking to improve their spiritual quest in life.

The Role of Freewill

It actually is very common in a reading for someone to ask me, “when in (fill in the blank) happen?” I often have to explain that the world doesn’t work that way especially in areas of love. The role of freewill plays a huge role in how we get what we want.

What is freewill? Freewill is your ability to make choices that impact your life. Because of freewill, there is not guarantees you will make the choices to get to your goal. My job as a reader is to help you see all the options you have before you so you can make the right choice. It is not my job to take those choices from you and decide for you. So when I do a reading I give people the options they have in front of them and let them know the pros and cons. When they ask for a timeline, I tell them, it is not a linear timeline but an action based timeline. Meaning, you have to make certain actions to get to the end result desired. But keep in mind, the other person has freewill too. If you want to marry Brad Pitt and you have never met the guy and have no way of contacting the guy, your freewill and drive are not going to be enough to make that happen. There are actually quite a few variables in play when it comes to a relationship reading, and freewill is just one of many aspects I have to look at.

A good reader will explain this to you, a not so good reader will make promises they can’t keep. Promises like being able to make your lover comeback. That is a violation of freewill and that’s bad karma and always backfires. A good reader will work with your options and help you find the most respectful approach to getting the best outcome. And a good reader will be honest with you when it just isn’t going to happen. I often have to tell people, that guy you like isn’t the best for you, you have other options you are blinding yourself to. I don’t like having to tell people bad news but I always give them options so they see there is always hope and things can get better. Again, a good reading is there to give you options, not false hope or crush your dreams and take all hope from you.
